Abe Saffron and John Ibrahim have quite a bit in common, They’re outsiders from humble immigrant beginnings – Saffron from a Russian Jewish émigré family, Ibrahim from a war-torn Lebanon.
They built empires founded on providing pleasure. They relished life, created both wealth and power, and had colourful reputation. As John noted in his book Last King of the Cross, '"I’m Mr Legit by now, but I’m definitely no saint.” John’s book is now a very successful TV series on Paramount.
But Abe’s tv career has gone very differently. His reputation, which took a battering throughout the 1980s, plummeted after his death and most recently courtesy of ABC’s 2021 documentary on the Ghost Train Fire, then the mess of their foray into the Juanita Nielsen case a few months later. Join Brandon and Duncan chatting about the decline and fall of the first king of the Cross and why errors that riddle these documentaries, can happen.
